Interview with Author Kerry Kennedy

1. When did you start writing?

I started writing when I was about eight and would have my stories read out in assembly. As I advanced in school, I took over the editorial role for the school newsletter and had a lot of my short stories published.

2. What was your journey towards becoming an author like?

It was an easy journey. My mind was and still is always full of characters and plots. Writing to me is as natural as breathing.

3. What can you tell me about your latest book? (Feel free to include an excerpt.)

Dark Reign, released on 14th of February, is a dark mafia, action-thriller romance. It is based on the story of Nico Santangelo and his desire to be King of New York, and his love-hate relationship with Lucky Gianluca. It is the sequel to Dark Obsession.

4. What sort of methods do you use for book promotion?

Usually, social media where, across my platforms, I have over 60K followers. I also utilize my own YouTube platform. To enhance posts for audiences and viewers, I will do paid ads on FB, IG and TikTok, sometimes on Amazon. I always run regular reduced pricing promotions and free books.

5. Where do you get your ideas for stories?

To be honest, they come to me. My mind is never short of ideas and characters. I have a whiteboard that is absolutely packed with books to be written.

6. What are you working on right now?

I have a secret project on the go for a major network that I can’t openly discuss at this moment.

7. Any advice for other authors?

Keep writing. Don’t worry about how bad you think the first draft is. That is what the rewrites and editing is for. Get to know your audience and your readers. Engage, engage, engage. Build relationships with your readers and engage in the author communities.

ABOUT KERRY:

Kerry lives in Spain, originally from the UK. She and her family moved to the warmer climate, where they could continue to pursue their passion for rock climbing. An avid writer of swoony romance with flawed characters, she is also a thriller author.

When Kerry is not writing, you will find her reading, on her bike, hiking in the mountains or hanging off a rock face. She has four cats that seem to know all about book editing, formatting, and have an opinion on just about every aspect of Kerry’s work, demanding attention during crux writing times.
